Over the years, small scale farmers have been battling with declining crop yields due largely to falling soil fertility as a result of over cropping, poor agronomic and conservation practices and climate change. Given the impact on the food and nutrition security of the communities, there is the urgent need to restore the fertility of the soils so as to improve crop yields. An ecologically proven approach is the use of Black Soldier Fly (BSF) to restore the fertility of damaged soils.
The VYFA is a youth-based, social-impact, non-profit making organization with the vision to economically empower rural women, men and youth in the Volta Region of Ghana. The mandate of the Association includes to train and empower the next generation of entrepreneurial young women and men in sustainable agricultural practices that responds to climate change, the environment and agro-ecology in communities in Ghana.
