The Mudzi Cooking Project aims at training women and youth in briquettes making as an alternative source of energy, constructs efficient cooking stoves to households to minimize wood use, provide climate change education to youths and raise awareness on climate change to communities.
Maria Kameta is a young woman from Kasungu, Malawi. Her passion for youth development and climate change prompted her to start an organisation that focuses on climate education and mentorship. While running this project, she realized that despite the success registered through the education programs, many young girls and women were suffering from finding sources of energy on a daily basis. This was due to lack of wood and other alternative sources. This prompted Maria to start thinking about how she could use her skills and passion to fill this apparent void in the communities. She started conducting research on what other organizations are doing to solve similar cases.
