Operational Positions

  • Re-Earth Initiative is looking for a dedicated and responsible Deputy Finance Director to join our Operational Team. As a steward and key member of the organisation, you will be responsible for aligning Re-Earth Initiative’s financial endeavours alongside our mission and values. We are looking for an individual experienced in accounting and NGO finance management as well as a commitment to climate and social justice.

    This is a remote position requiring a commitment of 15 hours per week, with the flexibility to roll over extra hours. The role is ongoing, unless specified otherwise. Compensation is set at $26 per hour, with payments made either twice a month or monthly.

    Key Responsibilities

    • REI-Granting Management 
      Our REI-granting programme is pivotal to the work we do here. You will aid your Co-Finance Director in managing and processing the grants on a timely and prompt basis. 

    • Budget Management
      You will work alongside your co-Finance Director in building and managing organisation wide budgets as well as strand/project budgets. 

    • Aligning Strategy and Finance 
      You will work closely with your co-Finance Director to implement and manage financial controls and track key performance indicators. This is key to ensuring that financial activities align with our strategic objectives. 

    • Payroll Facilitation
      Where needed, you will be expected to work alongside the other Co-Finance Director to process payroll for the organisation

    Qualifications

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field. An alternative to this would be at least 2 years in Business Management or Economic Studies. This is necessary to understand and oversee the organisation’s financial and operational landscape 

    Experiences and Skills

    • Proficiency in accounting practices, including bookkeeping, financial reporting, and auditing

    • Knowledge of non-profit tax filings, charitable organisation reporting, and compliance with both IRS and state regulations.

    • Experience with data analysis tools like R Studio, Matlab or Python. 

    • Experience in measuring program impact and preparing persuasive grant applications to attract funding.

    • Experience in managing and negotiating contracts, particularly related to fiscal partnerships

    • Experience in budgeting and financial reporting

  • We are seeking a Technology Enablement Lead to spearhead the development, maintenance, and support of REI's technical systems. This role is crucial in ensuring operational continuity, facilitating growth, and supporting our mission through effective use of technology.

    This is a remote position requiring a commitment of 16 hours per week, with the flexibility to roll over extra hours. Compensation is set at $26 per hour, with payments made either twice a month or monthly.

    Infrastructure Management

    • Oversee user access to all digital products and systems

    • Implement and manage new technical solutions, and phase out obsolete ones

    • Develop and enforce cybersecurity protocols and best practices

    • Create and maintain organizational tech policies

    • Serve as Data Protection Officer, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations

    • Manage software subscriptions, licenses, and user caps

    • Optimize infrastructure for cost-efficiency and performance

    • Respond to departmental tech needs and develop custom solutions as required

    • Oversee hardware management (if/when introduced)

    Capacity Building and User Support

    • Manage IT help desk operations

    • Develop and run a comprehensive tech capacity-building program for staff and affiliates

    • Create and maintain help desk documentation and user guides

    • Facilitate smooth implementation of new technologies to ensure organizational adoption

    • Provide rapid response and resolution for critical technical issues

    Strategic Planning and Reporting

    • Collaborate with leadership to align IT strategy with organizational goals

    Qualifications

    Website Development and Management

    • Independently lead the design, development, and ongoing maintenance of the organization’s website, primarily using Webflow

    • Implement best practices in web design and user experience

    • Ensure website accessibility and performance optimization

    Product Development

    • Conceptualize, design, and develop user-facing solutions such as e-learning centers, financial transparency portals, and reporting systems

    • Prototype and iterate on new product ideas with minimal supervision, pulling in external expertise when necessary to meet project demands

    Project Management

    • Manage the full lifecycle of product development projects from ideation to launch

  • We are looking for a passionate and skilled individual to take on the role of Climate Education Lead within the Policy and Education Strand at Re-Earth Initiative. This role is crucial to shaping our educational materials and driving our work in climate literacy forward. The Climate Education Lead will be responsible for overseeing the coordination of the Climate Education Area, managing the production of toolkits, and co-coordinating audiovisual projects. They will ensure that all content is accurate, engaging, and aligns with our organizational goals, promoting meaningful dialogue on climate issues.

    The ideal candidate will have a background in climate science, environmental education, communications, or a related field, with experience in creating educational materials and multimedia content. You should be well-versed in climate issues and current events, with a deep understanding of the latest news and developments in the field. In addition, you will have strong interpersonal skills and be able to review and refine materials, ensuring they are not only accurate but also inspiring and accessible. Strong research and content development skills are essential, as is the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams. Your role will help drive forward REI’s mission of decentralizing climate knowledge and making it inclusive and impactful for all.

    • Co-coordinate the development of educational materials – Support the research, creation, and delivery of high-quality climate education toolkits, ensuring they meet REI’s educational objectives and are accessible to global audiences.

    • Mentor and support researchers – Provide guidance to team members (researchers and writers) helping them to improve the clarity, accuracy, and impact of their contributions.

    • Stay informed on climate science and policy developments – Continuously monitor emerging climate research, policies, and trends, and ensure that educational materials are updated and relevant.
