Home is always worth it.
At Re-Earth Initiative, we believe hope is a pillar of activism. We're certain that recognizing the impact of our efforts, knowing that they (and we) are meaningful, and realizing we're not alone in our fight is what fills us with resilient joy. Our belief in hope as the fuel of action gave birth to the phrase "Home is Always Worth It" and inspired us to tell and share stories about community climate resilience—proof that doomism is not an option when the stake is our lives.
Home Is Always Worth It: The Documentary
In 2022, we launched Live on The Frontlines as a series of Instagram live chats, giving grassroots activists a platform to share their stories. Building on the success and insights gained from these conversations, we expanded the project in 2023.
Last year, we took Live on The Frontlines to the next level by producing a series of three short films that vividly portrayed community efforts in climate resilience. Home Is Always Worth It: The Documentary is a powerful triptych showcasing the stories of three climate organizations worldwide. The film is woven through three pivotal themes: Resilience, Fight, and Hope.
A Story of Solidarity
At the start of 2024, while brainstorming the next steps for the Live on the Frontline team, we realized our interest lay in sharing stories and learning about the unique narratives of various communities.
This revelation sparked the creation of a global, multi-location climate storytelling festival, forged in partnership with grassroots climate justice networks worldwide.
In the face of the climate crisis and ongoing colonialism, we have centered our festival around two critical themes: Community Resilience and Radical Hope, and the Significance of Storytelling in Shaping Identity and Building Grassroots Power. By bringing these themes to the forefront, we aim to highlight the unique yet interconnected struggles each community faces, while reinforcing our collective duty to act. Through this festival, Live on The Frontlines seeks to amplify voices, spark action, and build a more just and sustainable future for all.
