Joseph Wilkanowski was born in Medellin, Colombia. He was adopted at the age of sixteen months and moved to New York City with his parents soon after. He has done many projects within the activist world. He started activism during his employment at NYU Langone Hospital, he realized that low-income neighborhoods were being the most affected by global warming. He was able to slowly understand the association and hopes to justify his demands on scientific evidence. Now in college, he makes sure to focus on racial justice within underprivileged communities and is new to the environmental activist scene. He hopes to continue activism while in college and continues to use new resources given to him to further educate others on global issues. He has been featured in many articles such as Reach Not Preach, The Guardian, and Flaunt magazine.
